Captain Ehlers, who was with the Merchant Navy before taking up this position with the Federal Border Police, is a man of action. He is quite prepared to ignore bureaucratic regulations and procedures. Ehlers demands the highest standards from himself and from his crew, though he supports them absolutely whenever there is any trouble. The Captain of the coastguard vessel is characterised by a calm, collected manner, a powerful sense of personal integrity, a fierce independence and a commitment to his vocation.

The actor Rüdiger Joswig

Rüdiger Joswig was born in Anklam in 1949. After drama school in Leipzig he had numerous parts in theatrical productions (in Halle, Leipzig and Cottbus) and films within the then East Germany. In 1982 he applied for permission to travel outside the country and was banned from further acting work. Five years later he moved to West Germany and was able to resume his acting career there.
