Chief Detective Superintendent Stefan Kehler

The calm, considered approach adopted by Detective Superintendent Stefan Kehler has helped him solve many a case. He pursues the culprits with ruthless tenacity, choosing exactly the right moment to throw them off their guard during questioning. Kehler works round the clock, always on call – which doesn't leave him much time for his wife and three children. When he has a moment to himself he enjoys boxing in the police sports association, and gardening.

The actor Wolfgang Bathke

Born in East Berlin, Wolfgang Bathke embarked on an acting career at an early age: when he was just nine he played a messenger boy at the Berlin State Opera. His first training had nothing to do with the theater, however: he qualified as an electrician. Not until 1967 did he attend Drama School in East Berlin. Twelve years later he came to West Berlin and began working in theatres and cabaret. Since 1980 Wolfgang Bathke has also been working in film and television, with roles in TV productions such as "Hitlerjunge Salomon", "Ein Fall für Zwei", "Wie gut, dass es Maria gibt" and many more. What appeals to him about "In the Name of the Law" is that each case is followed through, from the actual crime to the final verdict in court. And “the fact that Detective Superintendent Kehler approaches everyone with understanding; he isn’t motivated by a thirst for revenge."
